Scottish Space School

Scottish Space School

 Ongoing During 2004/5 three pupils from the school competed in a regional competition with the incentive of a visit the NASA Space Centre in Houston. Andrew Fyfe of S5 was successfully chosen to fly out to Houston in September. Michael Walsh and Adam Crawford of S5 qualified for a ten day residential programme at Strathclyde University during which NASA staff came to Scotland to deliver the same course given in Houston. This year's applicants are already being selected.

32 S5 pupils participated in this highly successful event being staged on the above dates at Halkshill Bowling Club.
What is it?
This 2-day course wa sled by various trainers and business people with an aim of improving many of the skills required for the world of work:

  • Presentation Skills
  • Interview techniques
  • Teamwork
  • Leadership
  • Problem solving
Pupils took part in a series of problems/scenarios that occur in the world of business and they had to come up with solutions/ideas. They are against the clock and their resources are limited.
