The Guidance Department at Largs Academy is very keen to encourage
close contact between home and school. Parents are seen as important
partners in their child's education and, as part of this aim, it
might be useful to let them know.
What Guidance Teachers do?
In general terms, the Guidance Teacher follows the progress of each
student in his or her charge from S1 until he or she leaves the
school.
We are concerned with each student's personal, curricular and vocational
welfare and we hope that by keeping in close touch with both students
and parents that we will be able to offer support and guidance at
various stages of your child's school career.
As you will appreciate, there is not enough space in a single leaflet
to go into great detail, but we would be happy to give you any further
details you require. We hope that the following list will go some
way to outlining the range of activities and services offered by
the Guidance department.

How can we be of assistance to parents?
We are a "user-friendly" department and like to think
that this applies just as much to parents as to students. We are
keen to encourage contacts between home and school and to involve
parents in the school career of their child. If you would like to
contact your son or daughter's guidance teacher please do not hesitate
to do so.
How to get in touch
The simplest way to get in touch with your child's guidance
teacher is to telephone the school on 01475 675421 and make an appointment.
Guidance staff also have teaching commitments
and therefore, unfortunately, are not available at all times. However,
if the Guidance teacher is not available then a message will be
left for him/her to call you back later and, if appropriate, a time
to meet together can be arranged. |
