School Transport

North Ayrshire Council has a policy of providing free transport to all secondary pupils who live more than 3 miles from their catchment area school by the recognisable shortest safe walking route. Parents who consider they are eligible should obtain an application form from the school or the education offices.

Pick-up Points

Where free transport is provided it may be necessary for pupils to walk a certain distance to the vehicle pick-up point. It is the the responsibility of the parent to ensure that their child arrives at the pick-up point on time.

Fairlie Bus Arrangements

Buses leave from Station Road at 8.25 am. Buses leave Largs Academy at 3.30 pm.

Skelmorlie Bus Arrangements

The bus leaves upper Skelmorlie at 8.27 am for Largs Academy and leaves Largs at 3.30 pm.

Cumbrae Transport Arrangements

Buses leave Millport pierhead at 8.10 am collecting pupils on the way to the ferry. Pupils walk from Largs Pier to the Academy. Pupils leave the school at 3.25 pm for the 3.45 pm ferry and transport returns to Millport or their normal stop. For emergency arrangements as the result of ferry disruption please click here.

Placing Requests

North Ayrshire Council does not provide transport for those pupils in receipt of a placing request other an in exceptional circumstances.
